Noxtrum local

This is the story of a graphic designer who came to Chicago in 1999 fresh out of Art School with the hopes of one day running a modest design shop and retaining great clients. Or, perhaps, it's the story of a guy who viewed a now defunct web site called egomedia.com in which for the first time he viewed a flash shadow effect that now people recognize as being synonymous with the Apple iPod, who one day went on to build his own version of himself alive in vector graphic form on the front page of his web site:

http://www.steveconstable.com/

So, what's the point of this post? Is it to extol the virtues of a web fanatic? Perhaps make a provocative statement to the world - I love myself too much? Or is it just a fitting way to promote his services - his own web self - now an identity on-to-itself - hard at work doing the job he can't do 24 hours a day - and that's promote his damn web site!

Either way, it's all good fun. The web is a great medium that can serve to take up and consume a man's time. It has the power to over power your life. There is such a thing as loving too much. So, who really is the best graphic designer out there? Does it really matter? Is it all just a subjective argument anyway? Why do people say Hendrix is the best guitarist? Was he really? And who, then, is the best graphic artist on this planet? Who's got the chops? I feel it really is subjective. Everyone has favorites.

My feeling is that as an artist, all we can do is our best. It's terrible to say to another artist - oh, your work stinks. How would you feel? It's such an internal journey of the soul we all take. Who are you to judge their work? The best we can hope for is to grow and mature and become strong in what we do and what we believe. God bless to all of you and stay safe.
